"This picture was taken at a high school marching band contest in which we had participated. I (Laura) clearly thought that having thick black glasses and extremely long hair was stylish. And Stef thought putting beads on her marching band hoodie would be unique touch. Our braces were also classy. Our more recent picture is definitely a relief to both of us!" --Laura, on left
"It's clear that it was the nineties because of the horrible bangs and the strangely tight turtlenecks. Yes, I wore those tight spandex pants too with the little loop that goes under your foot. No clue why that was ever popular.
"My hair was always a horrid mess (though if you cut it all off I'd look like a little boy) and you can see that I was just a few pounds short of a skeleton. I almost wish the picture were clearer so you could see that I also had less teeth than a jack-o-lantern. " -Shannon
"I was so pumped the morning of this 'photo shoot' that I tried to iron my outfit by myself on the floor, but my mom caught me. God, I loved those roses. Look at them. LOOK AT THEM. I was six.
"Also, these glasses were actually much cooler than the ones made for me one year later, which were pink tortoise-shell and...flamboyant, to say the least." --Julia
"This is my 7th grade school portrait. I'm attempting to hide the pre-braces monkey teeth with a painfully forced smile, which produced a weird double chin that didn't actually exist. Also: Giant wire-rimmed glasses slightly askew. The Jesus pin from grandma. Poodle hair. The peach turtleneck sweater set that mom insisted upon. Oh, honey -- NO." -Jackie
"Wearing a leotard because I'm sure I was playing 'ballerina' in a room of my grandparents house when I was called out to pose with my mother, grandmother and great grandmother for a 'generations' photo. I'm not really sure why I appear to be laughing as I smile? Thank goodness the gap in my teeth closed as I grew older! I could floss with a tree between those!" -Tonya
