"This is my 7th grade school portrait. I'm attempting to hide the pre-braces monkey teeth with a painfully forced smile, which produced a weird double chin that didn't actually exist. Also: Giant wire-rimmed glasses slightly askew. The Jesus pin from grandma. Poodle hair. The peach turtleneck sweater set that mom insisted upon. Oh, honey -- NO." -Jackie
"I was around 14 years old when this was taken. I was with my friend Ann at her parents' vacation home in June Lake, CA. I was holding her pet rat. I had braces, freckles, and short hair. Regardless, check out that hairdo. It is a feat of awkwardness. I promise that no one else was sporting this style. The astute observer may also notice the multi-buttoned polo shirt. All the guys wanted me. Oh yeah. Also, I had no boobs. Boy or girl, you ask? So did many others. The city bus ride home was always a source of joy." --Heather
"This was 5th grade. I remember it like it was yesterday. I LOVED this outfit. NEON green, oversized, OP tee shirt with hyper color on the back, paired with billowing cotton white shorts and white Keds. I often tortured my dog with ponytails and this is the only shot we have of him... After years, he finally stopped fighting it. I'm pretty sure the best part of this picture is my hair -- it's tied back with a shoe string. I literally purchased dozens of different shoe string colors and switched my shoe string headbands daily... Sometimes multiple times a day. I thought I was on the cutting edge." --Jen
